What is CM?
CM (Congregatio Missionis or Mission Congregation) was founded by St. Vincent de Paul.
CM consists of priests and brothers who dedicate themselves to serving the poor, forming candidates for the priesthood, forming lay people, mentoring young people, and providing schools and retreat houses. CM members live in community.
What is the Spirit of CM?
The spirit of CM is to put on the spirit of Christ, the Herald of the Good News to the poor (Luke 4:18). This spirit was embodied by St. Vincent de Paul in five virtues: Simplicity, Humility, Meekness, Self-Mercy, and the Salvation of Souls.
To maintain fidelity in serving the poor, CM priests and brothers make simple perpetual vows of PURITY, POVERTY, OBEDIENCE, and STABILITY (=lifelong fidelity to remain in CM to proclaim the Gospel to the poor).
