Pemilihan nama Kampung 9 karena komunitas ini bekerja di Rumah Induk para Imam Kongregasi Misi, dengan karakter Misi yang melayani orang miskin di kampung kampung pedalaman, anak jalanan, dan umat di tempat yang sulit.
