What is CM?
\nCM (Congregatio Missionis or Mission Congregation) was founded by St. Vincent de Paul.
\nCM consists of priests and brothers who dedicate themselves to serving the poor, forming candidates for the priesthood, forming lay people, mentoring young people, and providing schools and retreat houses. CM members live in community.<\/p>\n
What is the Spirit of CM?
\nThe spirit of CM is to put on the spirit of Christ, the Herald of the Good News to the poor (Luke 4:18). This spirit was embodied by St. Vincent de Paul in five virtues: Simplicity, Humility, Meekness, Self-Mercy, and the Salvation of Souls.<\/p>\n
To maintain fidelity in serving the poor, CM priests and brothers make simple perpetual vows of PURITY, POVERTY, OBEDIENCE, and STABILITY (=lifelong fidelity to remain in CM to proclaim the Gospel to the poor).<\/p>\n
CM Work in Indonesia
\nCM works in parishes in the Dioceses of Surabaya, Malang, Jakarta, Banjarmasin, Pontianak, Sintang, and Sorong-Manokwari.<\/p>\n
Formation of Priestly Candidates: CM Major Seminary, Widya Sasana Institute of Technology (Malang), St. Vincentius a Paulo Minor Seminary (Garum-Blitar), St. Maria Vianney Minor Seminary (Sintang-West Kalimantan).<\/p>\n
School Work: St. Aloysius Elementary School, St. Louis 1 Senior High School, St. Louis 2 Senior High School, St. Louis Vocational High School (Surabaya), St. Vincentius Kindergarten and Junior High School (Batulicin-Banjarmasin).<\/p>\n
Other ministries: Vincentian Lay Missionary Accompaniment in Indonesia (MAVI), Vincentian People’s Mission (MUV),<\/p>\n
Social Work (assisting workers, street children, and poor children, disaster response, etc.), agricultural work, and foreign missions (Taiwan-China, Solomon Islands, Papua New Guinea, Philadelphia-America, Suriname, Bolivia).<\/p>\n
Stages of Formation
\nPostulate: 1 year (this stage is specifically for candidates who have not undergone formation in a Minor Seminary)
\nSeminarium Internum (Novitiate): 1 year
\nPhilosophy and Theology Education (S1): 4 years
\nPastoral Years: 2 years (i.e., one year in a parish and one year in one of CM’s specialized ministries (seminary, school, retreat house, social center, etc.)
\nPhilosophy and Theology Education (S2): 2 years
\nAfter all stages of formation are completed and deemed worthy, the candidate is ordained a priest.
\nCM Admission Requirements
\n1. Completed a Minor Seminary
\n2. Graduated from high school\/vocational school, college\/academy\/diploma, or employed
\n3. Maximum age 35 years
\n4. Have a heart and intention to serve others, especially the poor and neglected
\n5. Most recent baptismal certificate
\n6. Health certificate (hepatitis-free)
\n7. Recommendation from the parish priest
\n8. Photocopy of high school\/vocational school diploma and report card
\n9. Parental consent
\n10. Other specified administrative requirements (these requirements will be informed after you have communicated with CM)
